History
A & L was started in 1956 by Don and Hilda Anshutz, in the garage of their home. A & L is now in its third generation of family ownership.
In 1969, after Vietnam, Jack Anshutz, Don and Hilda's son, joined his father and began working in the company. Jack learned the business from the ground up. In 1977, Jack took over the company and has operated ever since.
In 2002, Jack's son, Chad, rejoined the family business after having worked in the home improvement industry in Denver. Chad now runs the business while Jack transitions into retirement.
Through hard work, excellent service, quality products and integrity, A & L Home Improvement is the most recognized window shop in Colorado Springs.
An example of the trust people place in A & L is evidenced by the fact that A & L was selected for the total renovation of windows at Glen Eyrie, a Colorado Springs treasure and historical landmark. A & L was able to blend modern technology with historical architecture.

Chad Anshutz
President |
Hello, everyone! I have worked at A & L, off and on, since I was nine years old. I am a proud third generation owner and I am now President of our company.
As President, I direct all of our day-to-day operations and I aspire to grow and expand A & L in order to better serve our loyal customers. I grew up in Colorado Springs, graduated from Wasson High School and completed a Bachelor's and a Master’s degree at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
My hobbies include fitness, nutrition, outdoor sports, and playing with our dog, Mischa, whom you might see from time to time in our show room. I am a member of UCCS’ Outreach Committee and a volunteer at Children’s Hospital in Denver.

I was born in 1944, came to Colorado Springs as a child
in 1954 and graduated from Wasson High School in 1962.
I am honored to have had the privilege to serve our country
in the United States Army and had a tour in Vietnam.
In
1969 I joined my father in the business and took over
the company in 1977. I now spend my time helping my son
Chad with sales and other business aspects that need to
be done. I enjoy talking with people, exercising, an occasional
round of golf, and having a good time with friends.

I came to Colorado Springs in 1984 after serving in the United States Army. I am fluent in several languages, including Spanish, German, and Italian.
I am a member of the following associations: Apartment Managers Association; CAI; Colorado Springs Visitors and Convention Bureau; Better Business Bureau; and National Federation of Independent Businesses.
I also enjoy my community activities which involve helping and supporting the following organizations: Alternative Circle, St. Mary’s, the Battered Women’s Center, and Silver Key. On the personal side I am registered with The Institute of Culture of Puerto Rico as a Hammock Maker.

I really enjoy talking and dealing with people. My interests in life are spending time with my family and my dog. My hobbies include making music with my best friend and fishing with my father-in-law.
